How are the children impacted?

Therapist Response
Research has shown that seeing their parent physically abused has more impact on a child than being abused themselves. Each child is an individual and experiences the impact uniquely. Some consequences of children witnessing abuse include a higher likelihood of – abusing drugs and alcohol, of suicide, of running away, of sexual promiscuity, of committing crime, of doing poorly in school, of perpetrating violence themselves, of being the victim of violence, of having physical problems and of having relational problems.
