Examples of Women Supporting Women within the Congregational Life of the Church
The following ten examples are drawn from church women’s own accounts of their individual support for other women who have been battered within the family context.
Reflective Questions to ask of yourself: Are there some ways that I might support the women’s shelter in my area? How might our local congregation (or women’s groups within it) partner with the women’s shelter in our area?
Questions to ask your pastor: Does our church offer a safe place for women to come and share their pain? Does our church offer information about abuse and referral resources for women living in fear? Are brochures on abuse placed in a private location, like the church washroom?
